History of Wyckoff, NJ
According to folklore the name Wyckoff is a derivation of the Indian word “Wyckoff” meaning high ground or “Wyckoff” meaning water. The township of Wyckoff was originally inhabited by the Leni-Lenape Indians. The township was the site of the Sicomac, “Happy Hunting Ground” where many of the Leni-Lenape were buried.
