History of Elmwood Park, NJ

The Borough of Elmwood Park is located in Bergen County in Northern New Jersey. It is bound on the west by the Passaic River, on the north by Fairlawn, Saddle Brook on the east, & Garfield directly south. With a land mass of 2.5 square miles, Elmwood Park is centered approximately ten miles from the GW Bridge and 11 miles from Newark. NJ Routes 4, US. highways 46, Interstate 80 & the Garden State Parkway are the major roadways passing within its borders, linking the town with all parts of the metropolitan area. Since its incorporation as a Borough in 1916, Elmwood Park has shown considerable growth. Its 1920 census was 2441. In 2000, the population had been recorded at well over 18,925.
